Haramai ki te hanga he manu tukutuku ki tō Louie Zalk-Neale taha (Ngāi Te Rangi, Pākehā).  He ringatoi rongonui a Louie, he nui tōna aroha ki te whakarauora i ngā mahi a ngā tūpuna, otirā ki ngā mahi o  te whare pora. Ko te whāinga o te papamahi ia, kia tutuki ai te mahi hanga manu tukutuku ki te raupō me te harakeke. He rauemi ēnei kua hauhaketia kei Ōtaki nei.

He iti noa ngā tūranga o te papamahi nei – ā ka whai wāhi tuatahi mai ngā tāngata e noho ana kei Ōtaki nei.This Manu Tukutuku  workshop is inspired by the traditional making and flying of Manu Tukutuku kites during Matariki. Louie Zalk Neale is a renown artist who is passionate about reviving the art of Manu Tukutuku making with the same resources our ancestors used: locally harvested raupō and flax.
